HOT YOGA IN COPENHAGEN

At Ohmyoga on Vesterbro in Copenhagen, we offer Hot Yoga classes in a heated yoga studio where the temperature is typically maintained at 37–39°C (98–102°F). The heat is generated using infrared heating panels, creating a comfortable and dry warmth that penetrates deeply into the muscles and joints.

This gentle infrared heat helps the body become more flexible and allows you to move deeper into the yoga poses. As a result, Hot Yoga at Ohmyoga in Copenhagen can improve mobility, increase flexibility and enhance the overall benefits of your yoga practice.

WHAT IS HOT YOGA?

A Hot Yoga class at Ohmyoga on Vesterbro combines classical yoga postures with mindful breathing and intentional movement in a studio heated by infrared panels. The warmth creates a comfortable environment for movement, allowing many practitioners to experience greater freedom in their bodies, while the practice challenges strength, balance, mobility and concentration.

The combination of heat, breath and movement makes Hot Yoga more than just a physical workout. Many of our members see it as a welcome pause from a busy day—a space where the body can release tension, the mind can slow down and the nervous system can reset. That’s why both beginners and experienced yogis choose Hot Yoga as part of their weekly movement and wellbeing routine.

Many people also incorporate Hot Yoga into their recovery routine. The infrared heat helps the body relax, while the combination of mindful movement and breathwork supports mobility, increases body awareness and encourages deep relaxation. WHO CAN PRACTICE HOT YOGA?

You don’t have to be flexible. You don’t have to be spiritual. You simply have to show up.

Many people believe that Hot Yoga is only for experienced yogis, but that’s one of the biggest misconceptions. At Ohmyoga on Vesterbro, Copenhagen, Hot Yoga is for anyone who wants to move their body, slow down and experience the benefits of practising yoga in a heated studio—regardless of age, experience or fitness level.

Perhaps it’s your very first yoga class. Perhaps you already enjoy running, strength training or Reformer Pilates and are looking for a practice that complements your routine by improving mobility, balance and recovery. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a break from the pace of everyday life—a place where your phone stays outside the studio and your attention can return to your breath, your body and the present moment.

At Ohmyoga, there’s no expectation that you should keep up with everyone else in the room. Our experienced instructors guide every class with a focus on quality, mindful movement and breath, encouraging you to practise at a pace that feels right for your body.

It doesn’t matter how flexible you are or how much yoga experience you have. What matters is that you show up. We’ll help you with the rest.

IS HOT YOGA GOOD FOR BEGINNERS?

Absolutely. In fact, many of our members begin their yoga journey with Hot Yoga.

You don’t need to be flexible, have previous yoga experience or be particularly fit to join a class. All you need is the willingness to show up. At Ohmyoga on Vesterbro, Copenhagen, our experienced teachers guide you through each class with a focus on breath, technique and mindful movement, allowing you to develop your practice at your own pace.

If it’s your first Hot Yoga class, the warmth may feel unfamiliar at first—and that’s completely normal. Most people adjust quickly and soon discover that the combination of infrared heat, movement and conscious breathing makes it easier to relax, move freely and stay present throughout the practice.

What makes Hot Yoga truly special is the experience itself. As you step into the heated studio, the outside world begins to fade away. Your phone is left outside, the notifications stop, and your attention naturally shifts from everything happening around you to what’s happening within. For many, each class becomes a rare opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply and reconnect with themselves.

At Ohmyoga, you’ll practise in a beautifully designed boutique studio on Vesterbro, where infrared heat, panoramic views across Copenhagen and a welcoming atmosphere create the ideal environment for your practice. Here, there’s always room to be a beginner, ask questions and build confidence in a supportive community.

Maybe you’ll come for the warmth. Maybe you’ll come for the movement. But many people stay because of how they feel when they leave—stronger, calmer and with a little more energy than when they arrived.

Hot Yoga is beneficial for those who want increased flexibility, strength, and stability. The heated room makes it easier to move deeper into the poses while also raising your heart rate and making you sweat, which can create a light detox-like effect. Hot Yoga is also ideal for relaxation and stress reduction because the heat helps the body release tension. It is an effective practice for both body and mind, especially during the colder months.

The main difference between yoga and hot yoga lies in the temperature and the effect the heat has on the body.
Yoga takes place at normal room temperature and can range from calm, meditative practices to more dynamic flows. The focus is on movement, breathing, strength, and mental calm.

Hot Yoga takes place in a heated room. The added heat makes the body more flexible, raises your heart rate, and causes you to sweat more, which can intensify both the workout and the feeling of relaxation.

In short:

  • Yoga: no heat – calmer and more flexible in style
  • Hot Yoga: same principles, but warmer, more intense, and with greater focus on flexibility and a detox-like effect.

Calorie burn in Hot Yoga varies from person to person, but most people typically burn between 300–600 calories per hour. It mainly depends on:

  • how hot the room is
  • the type of class you attend (for example, gentle vs. more flow-based)
  • your own intensity and body weight

Hot Yoga often feels more intense because of the heat, but the calorie burn is generally comparable to a moderate to intense workout session.

For Hot Yoga, it’s important to choose clothing that is light, breathable, and moisture-wicking, since you will sweat a lot. Most people choose:

  • A tight top or sports bra – so the fabric doesn’t move around as you get warm.
  • Lightweight shorts or leggings – something fitted and comfortable for movement.
  • No loose clothing – it quickly becomes heavy and sticky in the heat.

It’s also a good idea to bring:

  • A good yoga towel to place on top of your mat (to absorb sweat).
  • A water bottle, since you’ll need to drink more water than usual.

In short: choose clothing that is light, fitted, and designed for sweaty workouts.
