HOT YOGA IN COPENHAGEN

At Ohmyoga on Vesterbro in Copenhagen, we offer Hot Yoga classes in a heated yoga studio where the temperature is typically maintained at 37–39°C (98–102°F). The heat is generated using infrared heating panels, creating a comfortable and dry warmth that penetrates deeply into the muscles and joints.

This gentle infrared heat helps the body become more flexible and allows you to move deeper into the yoga poses. As a result, Hot Yoga at Ohmyoga in Copenhagen can improve mobility, increase flexibility and enhance the overall benefits of your yoga practice.

WHAT IS HOT YOGA?

In a Hot Yoga class at Ohmyoga on Vesterbro in Copenhagen, you will practice many of the classic yoga poses known from styles such as Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Yin Yoga – performed in a warm, heated environment. The combination of yoga and heat creates an intense and effective full-body workout that strengthens the body, improves flexibility and leaves you with a deep sense of calm and wellbeing.

During a Hot Yoga class, traditional yoga postures are combined with controlled breathing and mindful movement. The heat increases blood circulation and helps the muscles become more receptive to stretching, which can make the practice both more effective and more challenging.

At Ohmyoga, Hot Yoga is practiced in our heated studio using infrared heat, creating a comfortable and evenly distributed warmth throughout the room. This provides ideal conditions for a yoga practice that builds strength, improves flexibility and supports focus and relaxation.

PREPARING FOR HOT YOGA AT OHM YOGA

To get the most out of your Hot Yoga class, it is helpful to prepare your body for practicing in a heated yoga studio.

Because Hot Yoga is practiced in a warm room with temperatures around 37–39°C, staying well hydrated is essential. Drink plenty of water before your Hot Yoga class, and continue hydrating after the session to support your body’s recovery.

It is also recommended to eat a light meal 1–2 hours before your yoga practice, so your body has enough energy without feeling heavy during the class.

For the best Hot Yoga experience, we also recommend that you:

  • arrive 10–15 minutes before class to allow your body to adjust to the heat

  • wear light, breathable workout clothing that allows you to move freely

  • listen to your body and take breaks when needed

  • inform your teacher if it is your first Hot Yoga class

At Ohmyoga in Copenhagen, our goal is to create a Hot Yoga practice that both challenges the body and calms the mind. With the right preparation, you can fully enjoy the benefits of Hot Yoga on Vesterbro and make the most of your heated yoga practice.

What to Wear for Hot Yoga

When attending a Hot Yoga class, it is important to choose clothing that helps your body stay comfortable in the warm studio environment.

For Hot Yoga, we recommend wearing sweat-absorbing workout clothing, such as leggings, shorts, a tank top or a light T-shirt. The most important thing is that your clothing feels comfortable and allows you to move freely while you practice.

Because Hot Yoga classes take place in a heated room, you will naturally sweat more than in a regular yoga class. For that reason, it is best to avoid cotton fabrics and long sleeves, as they tend to absorb sweat and can feel heavy or uncomfortable during your practice.

Light, breathable training clothes will help you stay comfortable and allow you to focus fully on your Hot Yoga practice at Ohmyoga in Copenhagen.

At our Hot Yoga classes on Vesterbro, our teachers can suggest alternative yoga poses or modifications that allow you to practice safely while respecting your body’s limitations. This ensures that you can still benefit from the strength, flexibility and relaxation that Hot Yoga offers, without putting unnecessary strain on an existing injury.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOGA AND HOT YOGA?

If you are searching for yoga in Copenhagen, you may have noticed that many studios offer both traditional yoga classes such as Hatha yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga and Hot Yoga. But what exactly is the difference between yoga and hot yoga, and which practice is best for you?

At Ohmyoga on Vesterbro in Copenhagen, we offer both heated and non heated classes. While they share the same foundation of movement, breathing and body awareness, the main difference lies in the temperature of the room and the intensity of the practice.

Both yoga and Hot Yoga help improve strength, flexibility, posture and mental wellbeing – but the experience can feel very different.

What Is Yoga?

Traditional yoga is practiced in a room at normal temperature. The focus is on mindful movement, controlled breathing and strengthening the body through yoga poses.

In a typical yoga class in Copenhagen, you will work with:

  • yoga poses that build strength and stability

  • breathing techniques that improve focus and relaxation

  • stretches that increase flexibility and mobility

  • movements that strengthen the connection between body and mind

Yoga is widely practiced around the world because it improves both physical health and mental balance. Many people practice yoga to reduce stress, improve posture and create a stronger, more flexible body.

Most of our yoga classes are suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners, as the exercises can easily be adjusted to different levels.

What Is Hot Yoga?

Hot Yoga is a variation of traditional yoga practiced in a heated yoga studio, typically between 37–39°C. The warm environment creates a more intense experience and allows the muscles to warm up quickly.

Practicing Hot Yoga in Copenhagen can help:

  • improve flexibility and mobility

  • increase blood circulation

  • support deeper stretching

  • strengthen the body through dynamic yoga poses

  • create a more intense and energizing workout

Because of the heat, students usually sweat more during a Hot Yoga class, which many people find both energizing and cleansing.

Hot Yoga has become increasingly popular in Copenhagen yoga studios, especially among people looking for a stronger physical challenge combined with the benefits of yoga.

Hot Yoga is beneficial for those who want increased flexibility, strength, and stability. The heated room makes it easier to move deeper into the poses while also raising your heart rate and making you sweat, which can create a light detox-like effect. Hot Yoga is also ideal for relaxation and stress reduction because the heat helps the body release tension. It is an effective practice for both body and mind, especially during the colder months.

The main difference between yoga and hot yoga lies in the temperature and the effect the heat has on the body.
Yoga takes place at normal room temperature and can range from calm, meditative practices to more dynamic flows. The focus is on movement, breathing, strength, and mental calm.

Hot Yoga takes place in a heated room. The added heat makes the body more flexible, raises your heart rate, and causes you to sweat more, which can intensify both the workout and the feeling of relaxation.

In short:

  • Yoga: no heat – calmer and more flexible in style
  • Hot Yoga: same principles, but warmer, more intense, and with greater focus on flexibility and a detox-like effect.

Calorie burn in Hot Yoga varies from person to person, but most people typically burn between 300–600 calories per hour. It mainly depends on:

  • how hot the room is
  • the type of class you attend (for example, gentle vs. more flow-based)
  • your own intensity and body weight

Hot Yoga often feels more intense because of the heat, but the calorie burn is generally comparable to a moderate to intense workout session.

For Hot Yoga, it’s important to choose clothing that is light, breathable, and moisture-wicking, since you will sweat a lot. Most people choose:

  • A tight top or sports bra – so the fabric doesn’t move around as you get warm.
  • Lightweight shorts or leggings – something fitted and comfortable for movement.
  • No loose clothing – it quickly becomes heavy and sticky in the heat.

It’s also a good idea to bring:

  • A good yoga towel to place on top of your mat (to absorb sweat).
  • A water bottle, since you’ll need to drink more water than usual.

In short: choose clothing that is light, fitted, and designed for sweaty workouts.
